What did you do?

NUBS has a student social programme http://www.ncl.ac.uk/nubs/about/socialprogramme.htm that includes day trips to tourist sites in and around Northumberland.

Who is involved?

The programme of events is organised by James Wade, International Undergraduate Student Officer at NUBS.

How do you do it?

Events in 2010/11 include day trips to Edinburgh, York, the Lake District, and Alnwick Castle. Events are promoted on the NUBS website, noticeboards, fortnightly email bulletins to students, and the NUBS student magazine. Tickets for events are available from NUBS's student support office.

Why do you do it?

NUBS's website says that the student social programme 'was founded as a way to facilitate social integration between students outside of the formal classroom setting, while enabling them to experience the richness of the local cultural heritage'.

Does it work?

Events are well attended. A student intern is working to review the programme of events to further improve it.
