Brain Ageing and Dementia in LMICs 2022

 

In-Person Conference to be held 6th to 9th December 2022, Nairobi, Kenya

 

This quadrennial conference will provide a forum to discuss risk factors and increasing burden of vascular and neurodegenerative diseases including HIV Dementias in the context of incidence, modifiable risk factors, genetics, biomarkers, diagnosis and dementia care in cross-cultural populations in low and middle income countries (LMICs) compared to Europe, North America and Japan. Programme: An excellent programme is in place with the general format as follows:  1.5 hr sessions on different themes will involve 4 speakers and 2 Early Career Researchers (ECRs) with time for General Discussion.  Related workshops and business meetings will also be hosted by the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO), African Dementia Consortium (AfDC; africandementiaconsortium@gmail.com) and Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) on 5th (9am-5pm) and 6th (8am-3.30pm) December; these events are by invitation only.  A copy of the final programme is available for further information here.  The Programme and Abstract Book can be downloaded here.

  

Registration: You are invited to register upon which you will be sent further information for abstract submission and accommodation booking. 

 

Free Abstracts:  Abstracts may be submitted in accord with session themes by anyone wishing to participate in the meeting.  Some abstracts will be selected to fill in slots available in the oral sessions.  However, most free abstracts will be designated for posters, which will be displayed throughout the Symposium.

 

Programme and Abstract Book and Proceedings:  We are requesting abstracts (250-300 words; title, authors, text) from all the speakers to formulate an abstract book.  The book will be available for all delegates and used for the proceedings.  We expect all those oral and poster presenters who agree, their abstracts will be published in a peer-reviewed journal (to be designated).

 

Supported and hosted under the auspices of Newcastle University, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the Alzheimer's Association USA, the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO), AgeCap Sweden, the World Federation of Neurology's Aphasia, Dementia and Cognitive Disorders Specialty Group and the African Dementia Consortium.
