There are two possible genders an organism can be born as. Male is the term given to an organism which phenotypically and genetically appears in the 'male' form. The typical karyogram of the human chromosomes would show XY composition for a male and XX composition for a female. However, this rule does not apply to ever organism. for example, in birds their genetics requires XY for a female and XX for the male. Phenotypically, a male organism will have external testis and a penis.
