The Pre-Initiation Complex (PIC) is an assembly of General Transcription Factors (GTF's) onto the Core (Basal) region of DNA. These GTF's all have specific roles and together they initiate transcription. Together the GTF's form the PIC complex in the following order: TFIID, TFIIA, TFIIB (this brings in RNA Polymerase II), TFIIF, TFIIE & TFIIH.[1]
