DNA Taq polymerase is an enzyme which is commonly used in the process of PCR. This particular DNA polymerase was isolated from Thermus aquaticus in hot springs [1]. It is used as it can withstand the high temperatures which are used during the PCR cycle. The role of DNA Taq polymerase is to synthesise DNA from a single stranded DNA template in the presence of dNTPs and a primer.
