Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) is a cofactor used in anabolic reactions, such as lipid and nucleic acid synthesis. NADPH is a reducing agent in photosynthetic organisms as it is able to bind or rid the extra hydrogen atom.
