A type of lymphocyte which matures in the thymus and plays a vital role in cell mediated immunity
There are several types of T cell including:
- Helper cell
- Activates Tc cells and macrophages.
- Cytotoxic cell
- Attacks cancer or virus infected cells.
- Memory cell
- Regulatory cell
- Natural Killer cell
Recognise major histocompatibility complexes (MHC). Can reconise some cancer cells and virus infected cells.
