A symptom is a physical or mental feature that gives an indication of the presence of a disease or condition. Symptoms are expressed when something is not functioning properly. Symptoms are subjective as they are observed by the individual and cannot be directly measured. When they are combined they can be suggestive of a particular disease - by themselves they are normally non-specific.
