A replication fork is formed during replication of the circular plasmid during bacterial DNA replication. The fork originates at the oriC, which is the Origin of Replication. Due to the circular shape of the plasmid, replication therefore advances equally down either side of the oriC and terminates at the terC. This ensures fast and efficient replication and creates replication forks.
