A pleckstrin homology domain is the 11th most comain domain in the human proteome. At around 100 amino acids long the domain has a high affinity and high specificity for phosphoinositides with about 10% of domains sharing this property. The exact function is unknown but they are thought to be components in the cells cytoskeleton or involved in intracellular signalling.
