 Herpes is an infection caused by the HSV virus. It can effect the genitalia, anal region, commonly lips and mucosal surfaces. Symptoms include blisters and ulcers and therefore pain in the area effected. There are two strains: HSV-1 (oral herpes), HSV-2 (genital herpes).
