The Endocrine System is a complex signalling system involving the release of chemical signals known as, hormones from endocrine organs into the bloodstream in response to a wide variety of stimuli.

Hormones originate from endocrine organs located all around the body and include the kidney, liver, hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The endocrine system also controls long-term changes in the body such as growth, sexual development and pregnancy. This system works with the neuronal system to control hormone secretion[1].
