An isotope is an [[atom|atom]] of the same element with a different number of [[neutron|neutrons]] in the [[nucleus|nucleus]]. Some common isotopes are [[carbon|carbon]] 13, [[chlorine|chlorine]] 35 and [[chlorine|chlorine]] 37. Also an isotope contains the same number of [[Proton|protons]] in the [[nucleus|nucleus]], therefore meaning its [[Atomic_number|atomic number]] is the same. But on the other hand its mass number is different.
