John James Richard Macleod (1876 – 1935) was a Scottish physician and physiologist, and was the head of the lab in which Banting and Best discovered insulin in 1921–22. In 1923 Macleod, along with Banting, received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for their discovery.
