Class II mutations for Cystic Fibrosis are caused by a mutaion which causes abnormal folding of the protein. These are recognised by a 'quality control' mechanism which causes the abnormal protein to be digested by proteasomes. As a result the CFTR protein doesn't reach the cell membrane resulting in Cystic Fibrosis.
