An amine is an organic functional group with strong basic properties prevelant in many bilogical molecules. It is a derivative of ammonia and consists of a nitrogen (with a lone pair) covalently bonded to either hydrogen or alkyl groups and can be found in primary, secondary or tertiary structures.
