Chargaff's Rules state that the amount of Adenine in the genome of an organism must be equal to the amount of Thymine ([A]=[T]) and that the amount of Cytosine must be equal to the amount of Guanine ([C]=[G]). In addition, the rules also state that the amount of Pyrimidine bases i.e. Cytosine and Thymine must be equal to the amount of Purine bases i.e. Guanine and Adenine ([C]+[T]=[G]+[A]).[1]
