A 'Start Codon' is the codon that allows the beginning of translation and polypeptide synthesis. Start codons are almost always AUG and therefore bound to by a tRNA<sup>Met</sup>&nbsp;molecule, after which the following codons can bind to their complementary tRNA molecules and a peptide is subsequently synthesised. As a result of AUG start codons, all polypeptides start with a Methionine.

A 'Start Codon' is the codon that allows the beginning of translation and polypeptide synthesis. Start codons are almost always AUG and therefore bound to by a tRNAMet molecule, after which the following codons can bind to their complementary tRNA molecules and a peptide is subsequently synthesised. As a result of AUG start codons, all polypeptides start with a Methionine[1].
