The Nobel Prize is an international award that is bestowed on individuals and on groups of up to 3 people for achievements in the fields of chemistry, physics, medicine or physiology, literature, and for services to peace.
The award, considered to be the most prestigious in its respective field [1], was established and funded by Swedish chemist, Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, and has been awarded annually since 1901 by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden [2].
The recent 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was jointly awarded to Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael W. Young "for their discoveries of molecular mechanisms controlling the circadian rhythm".
