Used to seperate proteins that have different properties, i.e proteins that are hydrophobic are seperated from those that are hydrophillic.

Proteins with hydrophobic properties bind to the hydrophobic column whilst hydrophilic proteins are eluted out.

To elute the hydrophobic protein, you can make the solvent more hydrophobic.
