Eccrine sweat glands are the most abundant sweat glands in humans and play a crucal role in thermoregulation. The long ductular portion of the sweat gland extends from the dermis to the surface on the skin, releasing hypotonic liquid onto the surface of the skin. This is the result of reabsorption of sodium chloride in the duct from the liquid expelled by the secretory portion of the gland. |

Eccrine sweat glands are the most abundant sweat glands in humans and play a crucal role in thermoregulation. The long ductular portion of the sweat gland extends from the dermis to the surface on the skin, releasing hypotonic liquid onto the surface of the skin.
