Retinoblastoma protein (pRb) is a tumour suppressor protein which acts as a cell cycle checkpoint at G1 phase. pRb prevents progression of damaged cells from G1 phase to S phase of cell cycle to disable abnormal cell replication which might develop benign or malignant tumour.[1][2] By binding to and inactivating the transcription factors that allow cells entering S phase, pRb can suppress cell replication and keep the target cell in G1 phase.[3]
