Coronary arteries supply blood to the heart tissue, allowing the contraction of cardiac muscle in order to pump blood around the body.
There is 2 main types of coronary arteries: left main and right coronary arteries.
- The left main coronary artery (LMCA) which supplies blood to the left atrium and ventricle. The LMCA is branched into the left anterior descending artery (supplies blood to the front-left side) and the circumflex artery (supplies bloodto back-left side).
- The right coronary artery (RCA) which supplies blood to the right atrium and ventricle as well as the atrioventricular node (AVN) and sinoatrial node (SAN).
