Charles Herbert Best (February 27, 1899 – March 31, 1978) born in Washington County, Maine was a Medical Scientist. He is credited with discovering insulin along with Sir Frederick Grant Banting and James Bertram Collip. They also worked with John James Rikard Macleod in his laboratory at the Univeristy of Toronto where Best was an assistant. However, despite Best's work Banting and Macleod were awarded the Nobel Prize in 1923 for their discovery. However Banting gifted half of his prize money to Best as he felt Best deserved alot of the credit[1].
