Shine Dalgarno sequence is the ribosome binding site on the mRNA to which the 30s subunit of a ribosome binds to. The Shina Dalgarno sequence form base pairing with the 16s rRNA to position the 30s subunit on the mRNA. It is made up of purine nucleotides (adenine and guanine) and is usually between 3-9 nucleotides in length. The most common sequence is AGGA [1].
