Nickel (Ni) is a chemical element with the atomic number 28. It's found in the Earth's crust where it is about the twenty-second most abundant element.  It is a silver hard metal and a member of the transition metals.  Nickel is highly reactive in its purest form, but is relatively stable under normal conditions due to the formation of an outer oxide layer.
