Green Flourescent Protein (GFP) is found in the Jellyfish species Aequoria Victoria.GFP is a special protein because it has flourescent properties due to its ability to emit light at a certain wavelength. The single gene which codes for GFP is inserted into the DNA of a cell and it is produced during protein synthesis. GFP is used as a probe to monitor the movement and location of a protein of interest.
