The Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator gene (CFTR gene) codes for the CFTR protein which is heavily involved in the transport of chloride ions accross the plasma membrane [1][2]. Mutations in the gene can lead to Cystic Fibrosis.
