Stomach

The stomach is the organ primarily involved in the digestion of food. [1]

Anatomy of the Stomach

The stomach is found in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen and is the first intra-abdominal part of the GI tract.[2] It is split into 5 sections, the Cardia, the Fundus, the Body, the Antrum and the Pylorus. When the stomach is relaxed its inner lining folds into rugae but these are smoothed out when the stomach is full. [3]
