Sensory system
Our senses are the one of important means which allow us to detect sensitivity and specificity. Senses are incredibly important and it has allowed us to feel and smell various chemicals, organic compounds existing in this environment then we can classify them as which are harmful or useful, have pleasant or unpleasant smell. There are five main sensory systems supported by human beings and mammals. They are sense of smell called Olfaction, second of which detection of organic compounds by tongue called tasting, third of which is detection of light by eyes called vision, another is detection of sound by ears called hearing and lastly detection of temperature and different other factors by skin classified as touch.
Huge variety of components can be detected by Olfaction. The main olfactory epithelium which lies at the top of nasal cavity is responsible for detection of different odorants. Mucous lining of nasal cavity projects cilia with odorants receptors binding site. When odorants come into contact of receptor they bind and signal are sent to brain and are then detected.
