Hormones originate from endocrine organs located all around the body and include the kidney, liver, hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The endocrine system also controls long-term changes in the body such as growth, sexual development and pregnancy. This system works with the neuronal system to control hormone secretion.

  Endocrinology is the medicinal study of the endocrine system and the effects of changes to the system by genetic and microbial disease.
