Centrioles

 Centrioles are cylindrical structures embedded in the centrosome. Centrioles are made up of a short cylinder of modified microtubules and a high number of accessory proteins. They are arranged at right angles to each other in an L-shaped configuration.

Centrioles organise the centrosome matrix, they ensure that it is duplicated during each cell cycle as the centrioles themselves duplicate.
