Diphtheria
Diphtheria is a bacterial infection caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. This condition can be characterised by white and grey blotches inside the throat which causes coughing and inflammation of the lymph nodes[1].
These blotches are also known as "pseudomembranes" and come about as a result of dead tissues in the respiratory system caused by the toxin produced by the bacteria. The poison may enter the patient's blood as well and result in kidney, nerve, and heart damage[2].
