Glucocorticoids

Glucocorticoids (eg. Cortisoll) are a type of steroid hormone that are produced in the adrenal cortex.

These hormones have their major effects on metabolism, such as the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and protein.

A chronic excess of Glucocorticoids (eg. from oral steroid therapy) which causes a loss of the normal feedback fuction and can lead to Cushing_sydrome.
