Ubiquinone
Ubiquinone is a quinone found in the lipid bilayer and involved in the respiratory electron transport chain as an electron carrier [1]. As a small hydrophobic molecule ubiquinone has the ability to move easily through the lipid bilayer and is not located in a fixed position. As an electron carrier ubiquinone donates or picks up electrons in redox reactions.
