Disulphide bridges

Disulphide bridges are covalent sulphur-sulphur bonds formed by the oxidation of two cysteine residues. These types of bonds are most commonly found in the tertiary structure of proteins for further folding, and thus to produce a more specific shape for the ultimate funciton of the protein.
