Streptococci bacteria are Gram-Positive (although older cultures may lose this characteristic), capsulate, non-sporing/motile, and catalase-negative cocci that mostly grow at a temperature of 37 degrees. Streptococci sometimes require enriched media and can exhibit haemolysis on blood agar. [1]
