Mutation Frequency
Mutation Frequency
Mutation Frequency is the Frequency at which a particular (Or all and any) Mutations occur over time, within a population.
Mutation Frequency= M./n.
Where;
M.= Number of Mutants.
n. = Total Population in question.
For example, if in an E. Coli population the number of TonB (T1 Phage resistant) Mutants is 5360, in a total population of 3.1^11. The Mutation Frequency would be;
M.F.= 5360 / 3.1x1011 = 1.8x10-8
