Unit of measurement used to measure volume. It is equal to 1 dm3 (cubic decimeter).

Actually, it is not 1 dm3 as when the original litre was defined it was incorrect and is now known to be 1 dm3 plus a very little bit! So, technically it is no 1 dm3, or 1000 cm3
