G-protein Coupled Receptor
A seven transmembrane spanning receptor that interacts with G-proteins. G-proteins are composed of three subunits: alpha (α), beta (β) and gamma (γ). In the inactive state, the α subunit binds to GDP, and in the active state, GDP is released and GTP binds. The α subunit disocciates from the βγ complex, and then both can activate separate effectors.
