Weismann's experiment

Weismann's wxperiment is a experiment carried out by a scientist called August Friedrich Weismann which is uesd to disprove Lamarckian inheritance. In the experiment, Weismann cut the tails of 68 mice which then followed by mating between them and the offspring were born with a tail. After that, the cuting and mating processes were repeated over 5 generations and it was found that all 901 mice were also born with a normal tail which don't follow the rule of Lamarckian inheritance. Based on the theory, the mice should be born with a shorter tail or even no tail but the experimental results are not the same as theory so Weismann used the results to reject Lamarckian inheritance.[1]

However, Weismann's experiment has been questioned that it didn't invlove the concept of 'use versus disuse' in response to experimental change as the tails of mice were chopped by others but not disappeared due to self behaviour. Thus, Weismann's experiment is not a strong evidence to disprove Lamarckain inheritance.
