Wilson's disease is a genetic/inherited disease which affects women and ment equally. It is caused by the build up of copper is certian organs such as the liver and the brain. Roughly 1 in 30,000 people suffer from this disease. Symptoms generally occur between ages 5 and 35.

The disease is treated through medication, these include: Penicillamine, Trientine, Zinc acetate. It can also be managed through dietary changes, this will include low copper meals.

Symptoms include:

  • fatigue
  • weight loss
  • nausea and loss of appetite
  • jaundice
  • oedema
  • muscle cramps
