A catalyst is a substance that can be in a solid, liquid or gaseous form. A catalyst is a substance that can be in a solid, liquid or gaseous form. The aim of a catalyst is to increase the rate of a reaction by lowering the activation enthalpy of a reaction. Meaning a higher majority of the atoms or molecules can react, so more product is formed from reactants. A catalyst itself is unchanged at the end of a reaction, therefore, can be reused[1].
