FADH2 (reduced FAD) is the shorthand for reduced flavin adenine dinucleotide. [1]. Produced by the reduction of FAD during the Citric acid cycle, it is an electron carrier and is required for many oxioreductases to function. [2] An example of where FAD is reduced is when Succinate is converted to Fumarate during the Citric acid cycle.
