A Fatty acid chain is an organic molecule which consists of an aliphatic carbon chain which has a Carboxylic acid at one end. Fatty acid chains that occur naturally are usually unbranched molecules that have an even chain length between 4 and 28 carbons[1]. The aliphatic chain means the molecule has hydrophobic properties, which provides different functions within the cell. Fatty acids are found throughout the body, particularly combined with other molecules such as glycerol in order to form larger molecules such as in Phospholipids and Triglycerides.
