The genetic constitution of alleles that are present in an individual is called its genotype[1]. The genotype therefore describes the genome of the organism[2]. Genotype should be distinguished from phenotype, which is the observable traits of an organism resulting from the interaction of the genotype and the environment. Not all organisms with identical genotypes will display the same characteristics due to environmental and developmental modifications. A genotype can be determined through DNA sequencing.
