Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a disease in which your immune system destroys the platelets in your blood believing them to be a foreign pathogen that is invading your body. It can occur during anytime of a person's life with there being both childhood and adulthood forms, however as the disease itself is not very common then it makes researching and understanding the disease harder with the cost of funding this type of research being high. There are treatments for this disease especially for the childhood form however as Kühne (2016) says "Treatment endpoints differ in clinical research and in clinical practice" making it harder to settle on one direct course of treatment [1].
