Pharmacogenomics is the individualisation of drug therapies to patients using their genetic information. Sequencing a patients genome allows genetic variations to be identified, such as single nucleotide polymorphism. Tailoring treatment to an individual increases the effectiveness and reduces the chance of adverse side effects .
