Polymerase
From The School of Biomedical Sciences Wiki
Polymerase is a term used in enzyme naming which shows the related function of that enzyme. A polymerase enzyme's primary function is the polymerisation of new double stranded DNA or RNA from a single strand (template strand). One of the major enzymes used in vitro is Taq Polymerase, this is a thermophilic enzyme which is used in PCR reactions, by virtue of its high thermostability, to eliminate the need to replace denatured DNA polymerase once per PCR cycle.
