Post-translational modification (PTM) is the process in which a protein is modified after protein biosynthesis.
PTM is specific and it is mainly catalysed by enzymes. There are many types of modification, such as phosphorylation, acetylation, hydroxylation ,methylation, glycosylation, AMPylation, lipidation, ubiquitination, proteolysis and deamidation .
